Some of the most mysterious places in the world are Underwater Waterfall, Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, Richat Structure, The Haukadalur Valley, Naica Mine, and Son. 1. Zhangjiajie Mountains, China
✔ Zhangjiajie Mountains is a National Forest Park which is also known as “Hunan Zhnagjiajie National Forest Park” which is located in Zhangjiajie, Hunan Province of China. The overall area of this forest is 4,810 hectares(11,900).
✔ This park was first time recognized by the government of China in 1982. And, also it was officially recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1992.
✔ This park is also sometimes known as Zhangjiajie UNESCO Global Geo-park. ✔ There is also a mysterious mountain called Tianzi Mountain that is located in the northern part of the Wulingyan Scenic Area in Hunan Province that covers an area of 16550 acres. According to the Chinese Etymology, Tianzi means “The son of Heaven”.
✔ It is believed that Zhang Liang, a famed strategist of the Western Han Dynasty founded Zhangjiajie Mountain between 206 BC to 24 AD. The old name of Zhangjiajie was Qingyan before.
✔ The nickname of Zhangjiajie Mountain is “Avatar Mountain”. According to the Chinese Etymology, Zhangjiajie means “Home to the Zhang Family”. Some of the animals that we can find at this National Forest Park are the macaques, the sumen sheep, the pangolin, the black bear, the giant lynx, and the otter. the forest musk, the finches, and so on.
✔ Zhangjiajie Mountain is the perfect place for trekking and thrill. Zhangjiajie Mountain is composed of quartz sandstone. The Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon Glass Bridge is also known as the longest and the highest pedestrian glass bridge in the world.
✔ This pedestrian glass bridge is located in Zhangjiajie Mountain which was established in August 2016. This area is now being governed by the Wulingyan Scenic and Historic Interest Area.
2. Richat Structure
✔ Richat Structure, also known as the “Blue Eye of Sahara” is a geological formation in the Maur Adrar Desert in the African country of Mauritania.
✔ It is also considered one of the most mysterious places in the world. This place is also known as the “Eye of Sahara”. This place was discovered in June 1965 by two American astronauts McDivitt and White during the Gemini 4 Space Mission.
✔ It is believed that this place was caused by the process of geological uplift followed by erosion from wind and water.
✔ It is believed that the Sahara was not desert before there were a large number of trees and grasslands 5,000 to 10,000 years ago. While visiting this desert we cannot notice this Human Eye Structure also known as Richat Structure but we can see this structure clearly from the Spaceship.
✔ This place is also listed in IUGS’s ( International Union of Geological Sciences) Geological Heritage Sites. Richat Structure formed altogether 2.6 million years ago. According to the ancient Greek Philosopher Plato.

✔ According to Islamic Etymology, Richat Structure is a prominent circular geological feature in the Sahara’s Adrar Plateau, near Ouadane, west-central Mauritania, Northwest Africa. Sahara was also considered underwater 50 to 100 million years ago. According to the two Canadian geologists.
✔ This structure was altogether 100 million years ago and the rings of multiple colors indicate the various types of rock that have been consumed at different rates over time.
✔ The Richat Structure is made up of Igneous and Sedimentary Rocks. Due to this mystery, this place is also an attractive destination in Africa.
3. Lake Retba
✔ Lake Retba is a mysterious lake that is located in West Africa. It is also sometimes called Lac Rose. According to the African Etymology Lac Rose means “Pink lake”.
✔ The color of the water in this lake is pink due to the presence of Dunaleilla Salina algae( It is a type of halophile unicellular green algae especially found in hypersaline environments, such as salt lakes and salt evaporation ponds).
✔ It is also known as a high level of salt content, up to 40% in some areas. The color of this lake is strong from late January to early March. After the Flood that came in September 2022.
✔ It disrupted salt harvesting activities on the lake and also it caused the lake to lose its color, which hurt tourism. The overall surface area of this lake is 1.2 sq mi.
✔ This place is now under the consideration of UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. The algae present in this lake produce a red pigment that helps them to create or produce ATP(Adenosine Triphosphate).
✔ The color of this lake is visible from November to May and less visible from June to October (During the rainy season). The salt found in this lake is used by the fisherman to preserve fish in Africa.
✔ Each year altogether 38,000 tons of salt are harvested from, this lake which directly helps to boost the economic condition of the country. It is also considered the number-one producer of salt in Africa.
✔ It is also known as one of the most salty lakes in the world. Very few numbers of an organism are found in this lake. We can swim in this lake but we have to shower off quickly with fresh water because the salty water can dry out our skin.

4. Haukadalur Valley, Iceland
✔ Haukadalur Valley is a mysterious Island that is located in the North of Laugarvatn Lake in the South of Iceland. According to the etymology of Iceland Haukadalur means “hawk Dale” or “Valley of Hawk”.
✔ It was also known as Haukadalr Valley before. Haukadalur is famous in the world as home to some of the best-known sights in Iceland. This valley is famous for its beautiful sightseeing Geysers and other geothermal features.

According to scientific research in this area, it has been claimed Strokkur is a dependable geyser and it erupts every 5 to 10 minutes whereas Geysir erupts very rarely nowadays. After the earthquake of 17 and 21 July, 2000 the geysers have been more activated.
✔ The best nearby attraction in this valley is Gulfoss Waterfall. Haukadalur Valley is also known as the part of “Golden Circle”. Due to the presence of Geysers in this area, it is considered a popular tourist destination since the 18th century.
✔ It is one of the most famous, visited, and important tourist destinations in Iceland. It is believed that the geysers located in this valley were formed after an earthquake in 1789. After the eruption of geysers the steam produced goes towards the sky as a cloud.

5. Naica Mine

The water present in this cave is heated by the underground magma chamber. The Cave of Crystals is altogether 26 million years old.
