Lihue

  Lihue  

✔ Lihue, also known as Līhuʻe in Hawaiian, is an unincorporated community and the second-largest town on the Hawaiin Island of Kaua’i.

✔ The overall population of Lihue according to the estimation of  Census-Designated Place (CDP) in 2020 is 6,455. In the Hawaiian language, Lihue means “cold chill”.

✔ It has been claimed that Lihue was a small village before but after the construction of a large mill, it became the central city of the island.

✔ According to Hawaiian history, Lihue is in the ancient district of Puna. Lihue is also known as home to the Kaua’i main airport.

✔ Kaua’i Museum is a historic building and tourist destination that is located in Kaua’i, Hawaii. This museum was built by architect Hart Wood in 1924.

✔ It has been claimed that the Kaua’i Museum was known as the Albert Spencer Wilcox Building but later it was converted into the Kaua’i Museum.

✔ It was the first time it opened as a library. It has been claimed that the first time a library was opened by Reverend John Mortimer Lydgate in 1900 at his church.

✔ This museum was built in honor of Albert Spencer Wilcox. Kaua’i was enlisted in the Hawai’i Register of Historic Places on February 17, 1979.

✔ Kalapaki Beach is a beautiful beach that is located in Kaua’i, Hawaii.

✔ There are no opening hours at Kalapaki beach and it is free to enter this beach. We can enjoy this place by going with family and friends.

✔ Kilohana is a historical landmark and tourism division of the Council for Native Hawaiian Advancement (CNHA).

✔ Kilohana was built by the plantation manager Albert Spencer Wilcox in 1896.

✔ We can see a large number of historical landmarks around this place where we can find and learn about the history of Lihue.

✔ The Menehune Fishpond which is also known as Alakoko Fishpond is a historic Hawaiian fishpond that is located in Lihue, Hawaii.

✔ Menehune Fishpond was enlisted in UN national register in 1973. The overall area of this pond is 5 acres (2.0 ha).

✔ It has been claimed that in 2021 Menehune Fishpond was purchased by The Trust for Public Land.
